Iain MacWhirter
A PERSONAL MESSAGE
Iain has just had heart by-pass surgery. It is not now a serious operation but it seems so at the time. I know. I had it ten years ago.
Iain, Scotland has need of you. We are all cheering for you. There are only a handfulof journalists in Scotland with the objectivity you have and you are Dean among them all.

Seconded. As I said on Iain’s own blog, I’ve been a patient in the Cardo-Thoracic dept at ERI. No one could ask for better treatment than I got there for my collapsed lung.
From the surgeon in charge, Mr Walker, to nurses, from the lovely lady who cleaned around my bed and cheered me up with her chatter, to the physios, the doctors and the guy that kept fit by wheelchairing me (and others) to X-ray and back. What a great place and great people.
The building or rather its method of funding may have been a huge mistake but the team there are another great peice of our lovely country and why we should be proud of it.

Political correspondents with hearts are as rare as those with brains and Iain MacWhirter shows a great deal of evidence that he has both.
Hang in there and get back to the keyboard soon.

Seannair’s comment is heartily endorsed. All good wishes to Iain Macwhirter for a speedy recovery.

Agree with the general good wishes extended to Mr MacWhirter, who appears to me to be the finest political journalist on the Scottish scene.
Of course that means he has been a fierce critic of the SNP on occasion, but a reasoned one. And one they would do well to listen to.
All the best to him.

There are only two Scottish journalists that would encourage me to buy a newspaper because they are writing in it, and one of them is Iain MacWhirter.

Iain, I don’t particualrly like the hamilton’s, but I will contribute anyway.
allymax bruce.
I think you have done lots of good honest work, and against the fall of the 17th ideal of feudalist control.
I know for sure Scotland will not go back to these oppresive feudalist times, maybe this is because of your good work.
God bells, and good luck.

I did not know and thanks for telling us. Ian has an OBE and it is the only OBE he would ever accept–albeit with great reluctance. It is called Over Bloody Eighty.
